Learn how to Crochet the Dragonfly Stitch

So, I was on Pinterest the other day - looking up more crochet stitches :) And I came across this stitch called the Dragonfly Stitch. I grabbed some yarn and my hook and gave it a go. It's such an enchanting and adorable stitch to learn guys! Below is the tutorial, it may seem like a lot of steps and may seem intimidating, but trust me it is very simple! Just go slow and read the steps thoroughly :) You can master the Dragonfly Stitch also, this stitch is very easy, nothing more than some Single Crochets, Double Crochets and skipping stitches. Let's get to it!

Materials:

Red Heart With Love - in the color Cameo (pink yarn shown above) Size 1 5.5mm Hook

To begin you want to create a slip knot.

 

Next, make your foundation chain. This can be as long as you'd like, but it must be in multiples of 12 + 17.

 

Row 1:

In the 4th chain from your hook work 1 Double Crochet.

Continue making 1 Double Crochet in each stitch until you reach the end of your row.

At the end of the row Chain 2 (this will count as the 1st DC in the row).

Turn your work.

 

Row 2:

Work 1 Double Crochet into the next 2 stitches.

You will now begin to work your 1st repeat for the Dragonfly Stitch. 

*1 Double Crochet into the next 4 stitches. Chain 1. Skip the next stitch. 1 DC into the next 7 stitches. *Repeat all the way to the end of your row.

At the end of the row Chain 2.

Turn your work.

 

Row 3:

Work 1 Double Crochet in the next 2 stitches.

You will now begin to work your 2nd repeat for the Dragonfly Stitch. 

*1 Double Crochet, Chain 3, Skip 3 stitches, 1 Single Crochet in the Chain 1 Space from the previous row, Chain 3, Skip 3 stitches, 1 Double Crochet in the next 4 stitches. *Repeat all the way to the end of the row.

At the end of the row Chain 2.

Turn your work.

 

Row 4:

Work 1 Double Crochet into the next 2 stitches.

You will now begin to work your 3rd repeat for the Dragonfly Stitch. 

*Chain 4, Skip the whole wing gap from the previous row, 1 Single Crochet into the Single Crochet from previous row, Chain 4, Skip the whole wing gap from the previous row, Skip 1 Double Crochet. 1 Double Crochet into the next 3 stitches. *Repeat all the way to the end of the row.

At the end of the row Chain 2.

Turn your work.

 

Row 5:

Work 1 Double Crochet into the next 2 stitches.

You will now begin to work your 4th repeat for the Dragonfly Stitch. 

*Work 4 Double Crochets into the Chain 4 space, 1 Double Crochet in the Single Crochet in the previous row, 4 Double Crochet into the Chain 4 space, 1 Double Crochet into the next 3 Double Crochet stitches. *Repeat all the way to the end of the row.

At  the end of the row Chain 2.

Turn your work.

 

Row 6:

1 Double Crochet in the next stitch and repeat all the way to the very end of your row.

 

Congrats! you made it! You have successfully completed the Dragonfly Stitch :)

To keep this pattern going simply repeat rows 2-6, until you have reached the desired length for your project. Have fun!
